To Enjoy Cycling Safely
- Bicycle liability insurance has become mandatory!
- The general rule is to ride on the left side of the roadway. As an exception, when riding on the sidewalk, proceed at a slow speed on the side closest to the road.
- Make sure to turn on your lights three minutes before sunset. Using reflective materials makes you even more visible!
- Using a smartphone, riding while holding an umbrella, or using earphones is prohibited.
- Wearing a helmet helps minimize injury in the event of an accident.
Kagawa Prefecture has enacted the "Ordinance on the Safe Use of Bicycles in Kagawa Prefecture." Let’s all—whether riding a bicycle, walking, or driving a car—share the road with mutual respect for one another and strive for safety.
A park that also served as the starting point for the "Tour de Nishi-Awa," one of Shikoku's largest cycling events, attracting over 1,000 participants.
The highlight of this course. The road is wide with a smooth, well-maintained surface and little traffic, making for an enjoyable climb.
You are just one final stretch away from the goal of the first day: the journey from the Konpira approach to the Main Shrine. Climb the 785 steps, and the town of Kotohira spreads out beneath you.
Shops selling souvenirs and light snacks line the approach to Konpira. It is fun just to stroll along and browse.
I had breakfast at an udon shop directly connected to a noodle factory. They open at 8:00 AM.
This spot—where you’ve just navigated a steep 20% incline—also marks the end of the Tadotsu Kaido. You’re just one final stretch away from the finish line!
Did you know that the headquarters of Shorinji Kempo is located in Kagawa? It is such a familiar part of life there that local elementary school students even learn it during physical education classes.
The finish point for Day 2. From the observation deck, you can look out over the Seto Inland Sea and the town of Tadotsu.
